This country suffered immensely during 18 years of devastating civil war, but as a result of God’s faithfulness, Mozambique has also experienced a mighty revival in recent years. Our largest church in Africa is located in Maputo, the capital. It has over 45,000 members and baptizes around 3,000 people each year. The formerly Marxist government of this nation has actually begun to enourage missionary and relief activity to help rebuild the country now that peace has been restored. The PAOC is training Christian workers who will give future leadership to this tremendous move of God. We operate an evening Bible school in Maputo attended by students who must work during the day to support their families. We have also established over 100 extension schools throughout the country run by graduates of the Bible school. These schools provide training to over 1,000 students. This year (2003), we have opened a branch Bible school in Quelimane in the northern province of Zambezia.

Many Pentecostal leaders of the national church in Mozambique consider the PAOC to be their spiritual parent. As we stand with these believers in one of the poorest countries of the world, we enlist your help to train and equip them to reach their nation for Christ. Priority projects include the development of the new Bible school in Quelimane and the printing of textbooks.

Prayer Focus

Mozambique is a nation devastated by many years of civil war coupled with natural disasters. There is a deep spiritual hunger. However, many Mozambiquans are still involved with traditional African religion. Pray for the Church to have the strength in God to seize the day and preach the gospel boldly now that there is religious freedom.
