Click on right to find missionaries in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is one of the world’s few remaining openly socialist countries. There is a strong sense of spiritual oppression due to government encouragement of traditional African religions. Recent political unrest and economic decline make ministry in this country a challenge. Malnutrition, threats of food shortages and unemployment are growing rapidly. Political violence is estimated to have displaced more than 50,000 people in the past two years.
Since the 1980s, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada has established strategic English-speaking city churches. A number of young Zimbabweans from these churches are now being trained for the ministry in our Bible College. Currently, there are over 90 students. We plan to relocate our Bible College to a more suitable location. Property has been purchased, but funds are needed for the construction of buildings. In addition, support is required for an evangelistic team that will be used to accelerate the process of proclaiming the Good News and planting churches throughout this nation.
Prayer Focus:
Ask God to keep the doors to Zimbabwe open for our missionaries. It is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain new visas or receive renewals of existing visas. Pray as well about the AIDS crisis which is creating thousands of orphans in Zimbabwe and other African nations.
