With a grateful heart I want to appreciate each one of you for the way you have partnered with me in sharing the Good News over this past year in a team ministry that now reaches beyond Kenya to other countries in Africa. Indeed the Pan Africa Christian University (PACU) Transformational Church Leadership Program (TCLDP) is touching so many lives as we continue to grow in a wonderful way.

After a four hour journey out of Nairobi, I recently met a PACU Graduate in our TCL Centre in Kambu.  She started the centre, and now has 19 students enrolled. Most are pastors – one of them has a congregation of 300. What an impact we are making as a team!

From Kamba we went to Masai country. I had a meeting in Narok with some of the members of the TCL Class.  Teacher Omah, is a graduate of Pacu and Masai by tribe. All but a couple of the 16 students are Masai. One is a policeman who, after one course, preached a sermon drawn from TCL material and was asked to record it for airing on Kenya Broadcasting Corp (KBC) radio on 21st December this year!  So the Good News of Jesus is spreading as TCL students apply what they learn!!

Your continued prayers and support are much needed! God bless you for sharing in this great work of leadership training.

 Appreciating you,

Your missionary in Kenya,

December 2008

Special greetings to all of you at this special season! It is a time to give thanks and reflect on what the Lord has done! Above all we give thanks for the gift of Jesus, the Son, who died to save us from our sins, the gospel message we jointly herald in missions.

Special thanks to God for his Word that we, together with you, have been able to share with so many through the PACU – Transformational Church Leaders Development program. Here are some highlights as we come to the end of year two since we first started this program:

  • Successful completion of level one of their TCL studies was a joyful moment for these students. Rev. James Mwangi, Head of Department, Bible and Theology awarded the first level certificate of completion to one of 13 students in our Community TCL Center. They are now completing level two and shall receive in due course a full diploma in Christian Service and Leadership. Church leaders and pastors are studying in this center in two different classes.
  • Centers now number 40 – God is blessing and using many PACU Alumni (as in this center). They are seeing God’s Word transform lives and equip for service. Centers are also opening in neighboring countries!
  • Enrolment growth – from 330 (end 07) to 800 at present. God gives the increase!!
  • Transformations taking place – Pastor Samuel, one of our TCLDP teachers, told me recently how one of his students has been remarkably transformed after completing about five TCLDP courses. Evidence of this change has prompted assignment of this student to a special leadership role in his church. What happened? The study of biblical Truth has resulted in unity of belief and subsequent healing of poor relationships with others in the community of faith. Indeed a once unprofitable servant has become profitable. It shows the power of God’s Word to change lives.

Please continue to help us see many more lives transformed from ineffective to effective service and leadership in the Kingdom of the Son, the One whose birth we so gladly celebrate again this year.

With much gratitude for all of YOU, and for all you have done

Greetings from Kenya!

God bless you and thanks so much for your prayers for this Nation of Kenya. Indeed your prayers have been answered and are being answered. Yes there are people still not settled where they should be but many have returned to their homes and reconciliation and peace is being experienced. Please continue to pray that God will complete the work and Kenya will be completely restored and go on to higher heights.

For sure the Kenya Church has a special destiny to reach out in this continent. We are happy to be part of the training of leaders and labourers for the harvest along with all of you who stand with us in prayer and support.

The Transformational Church Leaders Development Program is moving forward. We now have 28 centers in various parts of Kenya and just around 500 students registered in the program. I think I can safely say that we are having growing pains. Maurice Potter is opening about three new centers at the moment. We are also happy to have Teryl MacKay here as an intern student from Summit Pacific until July. We are really keeping her busy. So we are quite a contingent from the Maritimes now.

Please pray for our teachers and students that they may be transformed and equipped for service.
